Post 18 Options

Although there is a high percentage of students that go on to university study,  higher & degree level apprenticeships are becoming more popular as is taking a gap year.

Preparing for your future after sixth form/college

It is advisable to start researching your post 18 options early on. University open days and employer insight events are available for students to attend during year 12 and 13.

Within our sixth form each student has a login to the universal destinations platform Unifrog. Unifrog enables students to compare every university course as well as having a Live apprenticeship vacancy portal. https://www.unifrog.org/
We also offer the parents of our students full access to Unifrog – if you would like a log in, please contact mbeale@purbeck.dorset.sch.uk

Students who are have an interest in higher education at a top university may need to prepare for entrance examinations such as: STEP (mathematics), LNAT (law), UCAT (medicine). These exams usually take place between July and November (from the end of Y12).

Veterinary, medicine, dentistry and Oxbridge candidates need to apply to university via UCAS by the start of the Autumn Term of year 13 as the closing date for these courses is 15th October of the preceding year of entry.

Cardiff University has kindly allowed us to share this presentation which is pertinent to other universities as well as their own. Please access the information to learn more about higher education, admissions and finance.
