The Purbeck School provides a high-quality careers education to enable all students to make informed choices on their future.
The eight Gatsby Benchmarks serve as a framework for improvement in careers provision and have been adopted as part of the government’s careers strategy and statutory guidance for schools and colleges.
All subject teaching staff should link curriculum learning with careers, even on courses that are not specifically occupation-led.
Teaching resources for linking curriculum subjects and careers:
Causeway and STAR Academies – GCSE Curriculum Resource a set of 36 high quality, engaging lesson plans linking a range of careers to specific curriculum points across all national curriculum subjects. These fully resourced classroom-based challenges allow teachers to showcase the application of specific curriculum topics in real job roles.
STEM Subjects, by the age of 14 – every pupil should have had the opportunity to learn how the different STEM subjects help people to gain entry to, and be more effective workers within, a wide range of careers. Click here for resources
