Ghana 2024

Ghana adventure

Bi-annually, we aim to offer students the opportunity to spend a fortnight volunteering in an African country. Prior to Covid, Purbeck visited Rwanda three times – please see the information further on this page. In July 2024, Assistant Head Simon Holmes flew to Ghana with thirteen students from years 11, 12 and 13. The PowerPoint slides below provide an overview of the mind-changing time that we experienced as we taught and built in The Lords Academy, Anloga; visited beautiful beaches and west Africa’s second largest waterfall; experienced the horrific story of a slave fort; and benefited hugely from the welcome and kindness of our Ghanaian friends. The final slide includes a link to African Adventures who are our partners in delivering this trip – we will be publicising it again in the autumn term.
