Year 9 Rugby Win 34-33!
Despite having lost to them in previous years, the Purbeck year 9 rugby team showed their progress, development and vigour to hold on to beat a very big and powerful Lytchett side by a singular point.
Purbeck were very much the stronger side in the first half running in 4 tries to Lytchett’s one with score 20-7 at half time. Joe Bohane crash ball off a timely pass from Henry Wright to beat 4 players to score under the posts. After an excellent break from Bertie Warren (a common theme of the afternoon), Vinnie Wright had supported strongly to clear the opposition player out the way and secure the ball. Archie Burt then received the ball, dummied through the gap and powered over putting the ball on the line to score. Michal Barry finished a lovely flowing move down the left-hand side, side stepping the full back to score in the corner. In the final play of the half, Jack Lowry received the kick off catching the high ball in his own 22. Resultantly he then weaved in and out of the opposition players, side stepped the full back to score with a celebratory dive under the posts.
