  • Purbeck Sixth Form Still Growing

    Published 03/10/24

As a new cohort of students joins our sixth form each autumn, we introduce them to our ‘grow ethos’: that is, each of us as individuals should recognise the importance of taking every opportunity to develop both our academic knowledge and our experiential skills. This week, as in past years, the new students were delighted to receive a plant each for them to individually nourish – and grow! We would like to once again thank our partners in this project, Holme for Gardens, for so kindly donating the wonderful plants to our Year 12 students – it is really generous and helps to tangibly forward our core values. Let’s hope that the students now demonstrate their green-fingered abilities!

  • Epic Bike Ride in Memory of Sophie

    Published 02/10/24

Almost four years ago, The Purbeck School was very saddened to hear of the death of Sophie Waylen, who had just successfully left our Sixth Form and begun to study as an undergraduate at UWE in Bristol. Sophie was a wonderful student, whose kindness, energy and intelligence touched so many of us. Recently, another former student, Joe Deakin, embarked on a marathon cycle ride to Croatia, in memory of Sophie who had been his girlfriend at the time of her passing.

  • Super 7's

    Published 30/09/24

As part of our behaviour policy, in every lesson, each student is given a score.  Students receiving a 7 have exceeded expectations for the lesson. The following week the names of the students will be compiled and they will each receive 7 house points. Shortly after this, they will be presented with their Super 7 wristband which provides them with:

    1. Queue jump for themselves and one friend for all break times and lunch times throughout the week.
    2. An invite for a Friday hot chocolate with the Headteacher and House Leaders.

Super 7’s as of Friday 27th September

  • Year 7 Special

    Published 26/09/24

Access to the library is generally first come first served until the space is full, which means lots of Year 7s have been disappointed to find it difficult to come in on certain days. So Tuesday this week was a ‘Year 7 Special’, giving them exclusive use to the space.

  • The Purbeck Pride Logo

    Published 25/09/24

Back in the summer term, we ran a whole school campaign to celebrate Pride Month. As part of that campaign, students designed a Purbeck School Pride Logo.

Many, many students submitted designs which were along very similar lines of using the Pride or Progress Pride flag colours for our school logo. It is a very powerful way of demonstrating the inclusivity of Purbeck School. Many thanks to all the students who took part in this campaign,

  • Library @ Lunchtime

    Published 24/09/24

Exclusive use of the library for yr 7 seemed popular today, with 80+ pupils coming through the doors – thankfully not all at the same time! A few pictures attached. Definitely worth repeating, as most of those pupils had not been in here outside lesson time before, as they can’t get here before it’s full. Only able to happen with the help of pupil library assistants who issued books, distributed games, and roamed the shelves to help the yr 7s find books.
