  • SUPER 7S – WELL DONE!

    As part of our behaviour policy, in every lesson, each student is given a score. Students receiving a 7 have exceeded expectations for the lesson. The following week the names of the students will be compiled and they will each receive 7 house points. Shortly after this, they will be presented with their Super 7 wristband which provides them with: 

    Queue jump for themselves and one friend for all break times and lunch times throughout the week.

    An invite for a Friday hot chocolate with the Headteacher and House Leaders.

  • Being a boy Hosted by Arts University Bournemouth (AUB)

    Being a Boy

    Hosted by Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), five Year 8 students took part in a two-day Acting workshop at AUB’s Palace Court Theatre. The workshop was delivered by Dan Boyden, an experienced theatre maker who works with the British Council as a lead consultant designing their new global youth programme and is co-director of international arts collective AWE.

  • The Apprentice comes to Purbeck

    Some year 9 and 10 pupils enjoyed a whole day workshop on Entrepreneurial Skills delivered by the Southern Universities Network. In teams of four, they were tasked with setting up a Festival for under 18s. They had to brainstorm ideas for a theme, design the festival site, create detailed costings to ensure revenue and profit, design a social media marketing programme for their target audience, and create logos and merchandise. The day ended with each group pitching their proposal to the judges and their fellow pupils. The judges chose ‘Flower Fest’ for their attention to detail and going above and beyond their brief, while the pupil vote went to ‘ESports’ for their creative and imaginative festival programme.

  • UKMT Junior Maths Challenge 2024

    Earlier this term, 107 Year 7 and 8 students completed the Junior Maths Challenge paper organised by the UK Maths Trust. The papers are designed to stimulate mathematical problem solving, encourage learners to think outside-the-box and apply mathematical skills learnt in lessons to sophisticated conundrums.
