Geography

From volcanic eruptions with catastrophic impacts, to a global population of over 7 billion people, now really is the time to be a part of a subject which aims to understand the way we fit into our interconnected and fragile world. Geography is all around us and is part of our everyday lives. With climate change increasing the number of hurricanes to increasing water and food shortages, never has the subject of Geography been more important.

Students follow a 2 year linear A-Level course following the AQA specification. It has a mixture of Physical and Human Geography elements to broaden your Geographical horizons.

  • Global Systems
  • Changing Places
  • Population and Environment

Studying Geography provides you with valuable skills and a firm base for life-long learning.

  Geography has always been, highly regarded by universities and employers. As such, many of our students continue on to further study at university to become town planners, retail experts, oceanographers, volcanologists, weather experts, teachers and many, many more!

Entry requirements

To study Geography within the Sixth Form, you should also have an interest in the world around you, have an excellent work ethic and be prepared to get involved in an enthusiastic and exciting department.

Level 5 minimum at English GCSE.

Grade 6 at Geography GCSE.

Exam board and syllabus: AQA Exams – 2 X 40% papers Fieldwork – 20% (4000 words)
