We learned about the many special species, such as the adder and magical nightjar birds, living just miles away on our many local heaths. The talk also covered the dangers to habitat including fires arising from barbecues, and introduced us to many heath-related careers such as education officers, wardens and campaign officers. There was certainly plenty to take away from this visit
